Gerald Law II was born in Sarasota, FL. Early on, Gerald showed an affinity for the drum set, leading to his first opportunities to play drums in his church. As he’s grown, Gerald’s interest has been in his versatility, pulling influences from gospel, jazz, r&b, latin, hip-hop, pop, and the many rhythms and sounds in between and beyond.
Under the tutelage of Florida State University’s Jazz Studies director, Leon Anderson, Gerald’s experiences during his college career include performances at the Lakeside Jazz Festival, Dizzy’s Coca-Cola Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Next Generation Jazz Festival, Longmire Days Festival, and a special performance with jazz trumpeter Sean Jones.
Currently, Gerald is the drummer for groups such as Renderglow, Jon Baptiste & the Urban Intellectuals, and C’Nergy Band. He is also a frequent call for studio session work while maintaining a steady schedule as a private lesson instructor.
