Jamie Younkin

Dr. Jamie Younkin has dedicated her life and career to the causes of great music and education.  Originally from the high plains of Wyoming, she has lived, performed and taught in universities across the United States, Canada, and Italy.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Mary (Bismarck, ND), a Masters degree in musicology from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of Toronto.  As an artist, Dr. Younkin is most inspired by the intimate styles of Chet Baker and Art Farmer.  She performs and records as both a vocalist and trumpeter and writes much of her own passionate music.  Dr. Younkin currently resides in Melbourne, Florida where she is the Vice President of the American Jazz Foundation and the American Jazz Pianist Competition.
